A North American species of the genus Tilia. Related to the European linden tree, it carries centuries of carving tradition on both continents. Light, stable, visually quiet, and scentless. Over time, it became one of the world's most important woods for sculpture. Often described as the blank canvas of sculpture.Indigenous peoples used its inner bark to make ropes, fibers, and baskets.
